HOW TO MAKE YOUR BUSINESS CARDS!
(Printing this page is recommended)

GOAL: Create personal "business" cards using Avery card templates

Required purchase:     Avery Laser Business Cards #5371
Required software:      Microsoft Word for Windows

            Laser printer recommended

Having cards is optional, however they sure beat searching for scraps of
paper when people ask for your name and number. These quick little reminders
will be a networking edge and will give you a professional look.

METHOD ONE: MAKING CARDS FROM SCRATCH

There are many laser business card products on the market. Here are the
directions for making your cards from scratch using the products below:

    Avery Laser Business Cards #5371

    Microsoft Word 2000 or 2003

1.     Launch Microsoft Word (MS Word) (Run winword.exe)

2.     From the TOOLS menu at top, choose ENVELOPES & LABELS in Word 2000 (In MS Word 2003, choose LETTERS & MAILINGS then ENVELOPES & LABELS)

3.     Click the OPTIONS button on the right

4.     In the Label Options box at top, choose your printer information, then for Label product, choose "Avery Standard’ from the list

5.     Look at the lower left and scroll down and select label number: 5371 – Business Card

6.     Make sure the printer information at top is correct for your printer, then Click OK

7.     You should now see the Envelopes and Labels windows again. At the top right, click New Document

8.     Your new page is created with the layout for your Avery labels

9.   Add your text. For formatting, right click in the cell and choose 'cell alignment' or whatever formatting needed.

METHOD TWO: USING THE DOWNLOADED TEMPLATE

Click here to download template: Business Card Template

 ►
With the above MS Word template downloaded, use Save As (on File menu) to save the downloaded version to your PC desktop or other folder on your PC. After saving to your PC, locate and right-click on the file icon, go to Properties and ensure the READ ONLY in not checked.

►    The text (top left) is your template to edit any way you want. You then copy it to the other cells on the page. Here’s how: Viewing the card at top left, click once in the white space on the card. Look carefully at the border that is displayed. It should have borderlines like this: //////////////////////////////////////////////////.

►  Notice that the entire text is within the single text box. You can now edit the text inside the box.  Once editing is complete, save the card with a new name.

To copy the edited text box to the other cells on the page, click on the border, which should now look like this

▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒.   (The cursor becomes a cross)

 ►
Now go to Edit on the top menu bar and select Copy. You can now paste the card on the same page and drag it to the next cell on the page. Repeat the paste command and drag the boxes until all 10 cells are arranged, then print! HINT: print to a plain paper first to test the layout before using your laser labels.

►  LOGOs If you want to copy and paste a graphic or logo, first locate your graphic file and copy it (Ctrl + c) or right-click on it and select Copy. Next, viewing your business card template, create a text box [within the original text box] (Go to Insert on menu bar, select TextBox).  With your cursor in the new TextBox, paste the graphic. This makes it infinitely easier to position the graphic within the main TextBox.
